Chirijquiac Medium rug by Dominga Huix
Rug hooking
24"x32"
The rug I made has a story behind it. One day, I was with my children, and we were looking at huipil designs. One of my children suggested that I should incorporate one of those designs into one of my rugs because she really liked it. This was a challenge for me, but thanks to them, I found inspiration. The huipil design represented in the rug reflects flowers and nature, much like the landscape of Guatemala, where it is always Spring, and flowers bloom throughout the seasons. I also want to add that the huipil is a traditional clothing design used in our community and in various regions of Guatemala.
