We exist in a fluid present that is forever drifting towards progress, failure, being and disappearing. In the effort to survive this journey, we make choices based on the guidelines bestowed upon us through our upbringing, spiritual beliefs, and cultural traditions and myths. As we move through our lives, these inner narratives are re-examined, picked apart, clung to and sometimes obliterated. When we have exhausted our own societal molds and begun the painstaking search for deeper truths, what do we uncover within ourselves and the world around us? What is reflected back at us?
These tableaus explore the ability to find comfort in discomfort and placelessness, the process of learning to trust ourselves, and the impossibility of accessing memory without the context of our own personal histories and the larger narratives to which we belong. Lost in these psychological landscapes, we are invited to trust our instincts and the unfolding processes of our own lives, growing and regrowing, dying and regenerating, adapting and stubbornly climbing towards the light. As our inner gardens sprawl, how are we to tend them?
