About Antonia Brown

Antonia Brown, a DAG Artist in Residence, will lead us in a guided meditation for ~30 minutes and that will be followed by a serving of hot tea or coffee provided by Antonia. Bring your own mat or cushion to sit on, there will be chairs provided if you prefer to not sit on the ground.

This meditation takes place in the gallery where Antonia’s solo exhibition, “Remember, I’m With The Cosmos”, is located. Her exhibition revolves around presence and mindfulness while farming so this meditation is an extension of her art pieces. Antonia Brown is not a meditation teacher, she simply practices meditation and mindfulness. This guided meditation and tea event is inspired by Antonia’s own meditation practice which is influenced by Plum Village and Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh.

“Remember, I’m With The Cosmos” Exhibition Statement

“Remember, I’m With The Cosmos” features paintings and naturally dyed fabric depicting farmscapes that Antonia Brown created during her six month Artist in Residence with the Durham Art Guild.

In these pieces, the artist grapples with her connection to agriculture and continues, uninhibitedly, to choose the path of tenderness, community and reverence. Her focus lies in the little moments of breath, beauty and serenity she holds tight to while farming. This collection of paintings acts like a journal for the artist and this exhibition seeks to bring those little moments of presence and daily acts of sacredness into the gallery.
