The Refuge Collective @ Golden Belt

The Durham Art Guild presents “The Refuge Collective ” featuring new photographs by DAG member artist Mick Schulte. Photographer, Mick Schulte, partnered with the non-profit refugee assistance organization, World Relief Durham, to create this work. The Refuge Collective is a photographic documentary of refugees and immigrants living in the United States.
Many people in the United States view refugees and immigrants as “others”, but The Refuge Collective Seeks to bring U.S. citizens face to face with their stories of human sacrifice and love.

The amount of suffering they endure to get to our country is far beyond any challenge most of us could ever imagine. Despite those struggles, they come here hoping for a better life, safety, and opportunities.

We hope the images and words in this collection inspire you to see refugees and immigrants as fellow humans with many of the same desires as your own.

Thank you for taking the time to meet them!

This exhibition is on view at the DAG Gallery at Golden Belt Campus from March 3 – April 3, 2022
