CALL FOR ART
2020 has continued to be anything but ordinary, so we’re continuing exciting new ways to keep the Durham Art Guild’s annual programs in support of the local art community going. And so, this year the MEMBERS’ EXTRAVAGANZA is born! Our goal? A safe online means for supporting local artists this holiday season and into the new year.
We typically offer two free, non-juried member-centered exhibits each year in SunTrust Gallery, which are the Members’ Showcase in the spring (which couldn’t happen earlier this year) and the Members’ Holiday Market during the holiday season. Each exhibit typically features 75-115 artists. To help keep our community safe during the pandemic and to focus our energies on executing sales of local artwork, we are combining both exhibits into ONE centralized ONLINE exhibition extravaganza.
All current members of the Durham Art Guild are eligible to submit up to two works of art. Artists must complete the online form below. It will ask you for contact information, title, medium, year created, dimensions, and price for each piece and will allow for an upload of an image for each piece. Images must be under 1 MB and artwork cannot be larger than 40 inches in any direction.
- Artists can submit one piece without any price restrictions. (Think Members’ Showcase)
- Artists can submit one piece that is priced $250 or under. (Think Members’ Holiday Market and think “gifts”)

DAG membership is open to all artists and art enthusiasts (not just Durham residents) and we strive to make membership accessible and inclusive by providing discounted student level memberships and membership scholarship options. BONUS: Memberships are all $5 OFF through the end of 2020.
Peoples’ Choice Award: All online gallery browsers throughout the duration of the exhibition will be voting for their favorite work of art in the MEMBERS’ EXTRAVAGANZA. These online ballots built into the website will be tallied and the winning member announced after the close of the exhibition for a special DAG prize.
Merit Awards: Our guest judge, soon to be announced, will select five artists for Merit Awards who will receive special prizes from DAG.
