Here are some great ways to support artists and the arts in our community during these turbulent times. If you are in need of support, these are also great resources to explore and apply for!
1. BUY LOCAL ART!
-Support an artist’s online store or patreon page if they have one. Reach out to artists you know and/or admire and start a conversation!
2. Directly support your favorite arts groups or organizations.
– Make a donation in any amount. There are many great cultural institutions in this area, like DAG, that need support always and especially now.
Durham Art Guild relies heavily on individual giving to make ends meet each year. If you are able to make a donation in support of our programs and operations and to help weather this storm, we’d greatly appreciate it!

-Thanks to the Durham Arts Council and North Star Church of the Arts who have teamed up to raise money and cross promote these two funds in support of local artists, arts presenters, and arts organizations in Durham being impacted by the pandemic.
-Thanks to Artspace, United Arts Council, Pinecone, Theater Raleigh, and Visual Art Exchange who have teamed up to raise funds in support of local artists, arts presenters, and arts organizations in North Carolina being impacted by the pandemic.
-Thanks to the Orange County Arts Commission raising funds in support of local artists, arts presenters, and arts organizations in Orange County being impacted by the pandemic.
VAE’s TP Art Auction
– Do you need a creative outlet as you have distanced yourself socially? Were you able to find toilet paper? VAE is the launching the Toilet Paper Art Benefit Auction! We are asking artists to do their duty to combat the negative impact of the COVID-19 outbreak by creating original art, drawings, sketches, collages–doodie doodles if you will–on a square of tissue off the ole bog roll. Funds raised will support the NC Artist Relief Fund. Auction closes April 7th.
4. Other resources for support and information…
ARTS NC has a really through resource list for North Carolina and other funds and initiatives across the state!
Americans For the Arts is also doing a nation-wide survey measuring the economic impact of COVID-19 on the creative industry.
