The Triangle Community Foundation and the Durham Art Guild present “In Front of the Mirror” featuring new paintings by Triangle-based artist Lakeshia Reid.
“In Front of the Mirror reimagines the context for #BlackGirlMagic, a phrase/movement that celebrates positive messages and images of black women, by exploring the archetypal nature of tarot cards. Through the duality of abstraction and representation, I juxtapose women of various demeanors with colorful layers of ornamentation and texture. In this context, I explore their identities, and my own, while crossing a conceptual threshold.”
