CALL FOR ARTISTS: Creative Mentors for 2018 Creative Mentorship Program

Inspire the next generation of creative thinkers, makers and leaders!

Call for 2018 Creative Mentors

About the program:
The Creative Mentorship Program is a unique partnership between the Durham Art Guild and Student U. Together, our organizations connect high school students in Durham Public Schools with artist mentors from the Durham Art Guild. The program empowers students to discover and develop their creative voices and artistic skills through 20 weeks of one-on-one dedicated work with a professional artist, involvement with the local arts community through monthly field trips and workshops, and a month-long exhibition in Room 100 Gallery at Golden Belt.
Make a significant impact by sharing your artistic talents and passions with a student. Now going into our sixth year, the Creative Mentorship Program will continue enriching the lives of Student U students by helping them to broadly envision their future, learning tools for creative self-expression, and building a strong network that will support them in achieving their goals.

Support the 2018 Creative Mentorship Program

Inspire, challenge and celebrate local students and professional artists by
sponsoring the 2018 Creative Mentorship Program!

The annual Creative Mentorship Program is made possible through grants, in-kind partnerships as well as individual and corporate sponsorships through a fall fundraising campaign each year. We need your support to ensure DAG can provide this program for 5 student-mentor pairs in January of 2018. Even a gift of $5 puts pencils in our students' hands for sketching their brilliant ideas.

During the last 5 years of this program we have witnessed a continued increase of students exploring their personal identities and social justice issues that are important to them through their creative projects. This program provides a valuable platform for students to process their world views and share their unique perspectives with the broader community. Be a part of these creative journeys.
