Stained Glass Workshop with Kahlila Shapiro

In this exciting 3-hour Make 'n Take class, students will learn and execute the basics of stained glass. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this hands-on workshop at DAG Gallery at Golden Belt Campus (Mill No. 1 Building) is perfect for unleashing your creativity. Join us for a fun and interactive session where you'll create your own stunning stained glass masterpiece to take home!

Completed project will be a 10" suncatcher (two options provided). Instruction includes working from a pattern, cutting, grinding, applying copper foil, soldering, applying patina chemicals, and polishing the finished piece. Each student will create and take home their finished piece within the class time. Instructor will walk you through the safest way to work in this beautiful glass medium. Eye protection provided to minimize the risk from flying glass grit. Fans provided to blow soldering fumes away from the face. Health risks include: Breathing chemical fumes while soldering, burns working with hot solder wands and solder, cuts due to sharp glass edges and grit.


Meet your instructor: Los Angeles native Kahlila Shapiro has called Durham home since 1998. She has 25 years experience in designing and creating stained glass panels for large commissions and small-scale festival work. www.kahlilascope.com
